Dear Journal,
Today, I would fill in the role of tournament director and do t-shirt sales at this weekend's baseball and softball tournament. This was a one day tournament and they will play pool and bracket play all in one day, which means the team are competing and are facing elimination during these tournament games. The tournament I was working at was one of our fall tournaments and it was located at Marshall Park in Ontario, Ohio. As I arrived at the fields, I was greeted by the grounds crew and started to set up our tents and check each field to make sure they were game ready for the first round of games. I arrived at the park at 7:30 that morning. My main task was to efficiently get all the games in for the day and report the scores of each game. I was also responsible to check in with umpires before each game and to games on schedule the best I could. Another job I had was to present and pass out awards to the first and second place teams for each age division. I would continue these tasks throughout the day and my shift ended at nine that evening. Reflecting on my time during my mentorship I feel as if I learned valuable skills. I learned what it took to think critically to solve problems efficiently. I learned how to deal with frustrated coaches, parents, players, and umpires on the spot. Also lastly, I learned how to manage a tournament site during expected and unexpected circumstances. Until next time, Kaylee

Dear Journal,
Today was the end of a long weekend because I was filling in the role of tournament director at this weekend's baseball and softball tournament. This was day three of the tournament and championship Sunday, which means the team are competing in bracket play and are facing elimination during these tournament games. The tournament I was working at was called the Dawg Daze Showdown Tournament, it was located at Marathon Diamonds in Findlay, Ohio. As I arrived at the fields, I was greeted by the grounds crew and met all of them that would be overseeing the park that weekend. I arrived at the park at 7:00 am that morning. My main task was to efficiently get all the games in for the day and report the scores of each game. This day started out great with all the games on schedule however, we would run into some delays. I had to stop games multiple times for lightning and thunder delays. This puts us on a 30 minute delay that starts over every time another strike appears. But, during the delays a huge rain storm hit that would make the fields unplayable. I made the call to end the tournament there and seed out the teams that were still remaining. I would then pass out the awards to the appropriate teams and clean up all of our equipment and supplies. I would continue these tasks throughout the day and my shift ended at four that afternoon. Until next time, Kaylee Dear Journal,
Today was the middle of a long weekend because I was filling in the role of tournament director and helped with t-shirt sales at this weekend's baseball and softball tournament. This was day one of the tournament and pool play Friday, which means the team are competing in pool play and are fighting for a seed for bracket play during these tournament games. The tournament I was working at was called the Dawg Daze Showdown Tournament, it was located at Marathon Diamonds in Findlay, Ohio. As I arrived at the fields, I was greeted by the grounds crew and met all of them that would be overseeing the park that weekend. I arrived at the park at 6:30 am that morning. My main task was to efficiently get all the games in for the day and report the scores of each game. I was also responsible to check in with umpires before each game and to games on schedule the best I could. This weekend we had an umpire shortage so I had to move umpires around to accommodate the shortage. This weekend I had to make many calls to our umpire recruiter to find a replacements to fill spots. Another job we had was to hand out coaches bags to the head coach of each team. In the coaches bag, there were three game balls for pool play, four score cards to report the final scores of the games, and a copy of the tournament rules. I would continue these tasks throughout the day and my shift ended at 11:30 pm that evening. Until next time, Kaylee Dear Journal,

Today is another eventful day as I worked at the admissions gate at a weekend baseball and softball tournament. This day was a pool play Friday. The tournament I was working at was called the Tony Latona Memorial Tournament, it was located at Swale Park in Findlay, Ohio. As I arrived at the admissions gate, I was greeted by large and dark rain clouds. I arrived at 6:30 am that morning. This day we were hit with a lot of heavy rain. The fields that I was working on were dirt fields therefore we had to wait it out and hope for the best. But due to the amount of rain we had we had to cancel the events for the day. Since other fields were not able to get their games in, those games were scheduled to be moved to the next day. I helped prep the fields that morning when we were still trying to make them playable but also when we prepared the fields for the next day. Some people prefer turf fields over dirt due to the lower management. But my personal preference would be dirt fields. I have played on both and love the feel of dirt better as a player. I would continue these tasks throughout the day and my shift ended at two that afternoon due to the rain out. Until next time, Kaylee Dear Journal,
Today was an eventful day as I worked at the admissions gate and sold merchandise at a weekend baseball and softball tournament. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as teams and spectators gathered to enjoy the tournament games. This was day two of the tournament and pool play Saturday, which means the team are competing in pool play and are fighting for a seed for bracket play during these tournament games. The tournament I was working at was called the 6th annual Stars and Stripes Tournament, it was located at Marathon Diamonds in Findlay, Ohio. I arrived at 7:00 am that afternoon. I am at the point in my mentorship that I can see the value of my duties and see the role that I play within the organization. The organization that work for has numerous tournaments going on everyweek and I am meeting an array of people and learning so much. Later, I moved to the merchandise booth, where a colorful array of tournament shirts, hats, and other midwest apparel awaited the crowd. Interacting with customers was a highlight of the day. Another job we had was to hand out coaches bags to the head coach of each team. In the coaches bag, there were three game balls for pool play, four score cards to report the final scores of the games, and a copy of the tournament rules. I would continue these tasks throughout the day and my shift ended at 2:00 pm that evening. Until next time, Kaylee Dear Journal,

Today, I didn’t have to drive far due to me staying in a nearby hotel because I had finished so late the previous night. This was day three of the tournament and championship Sunday, which means the team are competing in bracket play and are facing elimination during these tournament games. The tournament I was working at was called the 3rd annual Licking County Select Tournament, it was located at Olentangy Liberty High School Fields in Powell, Ohio. As I arrived at the fields, I was greeted by the grounds crew and started to set up our tents and check each field to make sure they were game ready for the first round of games. I arrived at the park at 6:30 that morning. My main task was to efficiently get all the games in for the day and report the scores of each game. Another job I had was to present and pass out awards to the first and second place teams for each age division. I would continue these tasks throughout the day and my shift ended at ten that evening. I look forward to more rewarding experiences like this in the future. It was inspiring to witness the dedication and skill of the players on the field. The camaraderie amongst the teams and the unwavering support of their fans created a sense of unity and sportsmanship that was truly uplifting. Until next time, Kaylee Dear Journal,
